Public meeting being held for feedback on proposed pickleball complex at Ben Hawes

Pickleball Complex at Ben Hawes

Owenboro Parks & Recreation is inviting community members to a public meeting this Thursday to discuss the new pickleball complex planned for Ben Hawes Park.

The meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the Owensboro Parks & Recreation Administrative Center, located at 1530 McJohnson Avenue.

During the meeting, Parks & Recreation staff will provide updates on the progress of the complex and outline future plans. Attendees will have the opportunity to offer their input and suggestions for the project.

Recently, city officials revealed the design for the proposed 18-court complex at Ben Hawes Park. The design features shaded areas, seating, practice spaces, and other amenities.

The facility is intended to become the home court for the River City Pickleball Club. Owensboro Parks & Recreation is collaborating with the River City Pickleball Club (RCPC) on the project.

The City has allocated up to $1 million for the development, with funding provided at a 2:1 ratio—meaning the City will contribute $2 for every $1 the club raises.
