The ribbon-cutting marks the completion of the Tennis and Pickleball Expansion project, which saw the addition of 12 new courts at Lincoln Park for a total of 20 courts dedicated to pickleball, as well as four new tennis courts for a total of 16 tennis courts at Canyon View Park.

International Dark Sky-certified LED lights were nested at both locations to provide ample light for evening players.

The project was funded largely by the city with contributions from the Western Slope Pickleball Club and Mesa County Tennis.

The pickleball development was one of the priorities outlined in the city’s Parks, Recreation and Open Space (PROS) Master Plan for the parks and recreation system. The PROS Master Plan includes more projects to be completed in the next few years.
