Metro Detroit’s Opens its First Indoor Pickleball Complex in Warren

Bash Pickleball Club

Pickleball has seen exponential growth in the number of players since 2018, and in 2023, it was named the fastest-growing sport in the United States.

The racquet sport industry saw notable spike as per the Sports & Fitness Industry Association’s reports. From year 2022 to 2023, it experienced a 51.8% increase, while over the past three years, it surged by approximately 223.5%.

If we discuss loacally about Pickleball, it has taken over many metro Detroit parks, and now the new complex build for pickleball in Warren, the Bash Pickleball Club.

Co-owners, Sam Briko, started playing pickleball approximately nine months ago, he told WDET’s Nick Austin and Tia Graham on the Metro. Everyone know pickleball is a social sport, and he keep asking people where would they play in winter.

“And the answer I would get was like, nowhere, nothing dedicated. Maybe we’ll find a empty hall and put up a net and you know, make some lines with tape,” Briko said, “And so I took a few videos every time at the park and I’d send it to my brother. I’m like, this would be a great business idea. We need a dedicated facility for pickleball organized play. And that’s how we got started.”

One of the reasons; why is pickleball so popular is because it’s easy to learn, said Nick Hernandez, head coach at the club.

“Many people like it because its easy to pick up. Its easy to learn by all age gender, can play easily.” Hernandez said. ” Many people learn game, then they hangout with their friends, its kind of a backyard activity. And it is really fun.”
