Miami-Dade Board of County Commission Chair Oliver Gilbert, III organized a community pickleball tournament on Sunday, Aug. 25, as a prelude to the upcoming Orange Blossom Classic on Sept. 1.
The tournament, held in collaboration with Sunshine State Games, took place at the Hard Rock Stadium Tennis Plaza in Miami Gardens.
This marked the first event promoting this fall’s Orange Blossom Classic, an annual event aimed at increasing visibility for Historically Black Colleges & Universities.
The game on Sunday will showcase North Carolina Central University and Alabama State University, along with various celebratory events leading up to it.
